The 'Start frame' and 'End frame' controls are particularly important to animations. In most cases your animation will start at frame 1, though in some cases starting at other frame numbers would be useful. The 'End frame' is usually changed much more frequently, as it defines the last frame, and thus the length of your animation (in combination with the 'Start frame'). You can set the 'End frame' to any value you wish. For a 10 second animation for example, at 30 frames per second, you would use 'Start frame' 1, 'End frame' 300.
